Review- Hasegawa 1/12 Office desk and Student desk sets

13/02/2013 by bd77

This be a two reviews in one, as each of them are pretty basic.

An office desk and student desks.

An office desk and student desks.

This time its its a Hasegawa 1/12 scale office desk set and a three student desk set. Do note that these are similar to model kits so basically they all needed to be assemble and (optionally) paint.

The office desk.

The office desk.

First off, the office desk set.

The chair.

The chair.

The chair however does not have working wheels (as they’re too small to start with). Using runners of gray and black, it does have reasonable details that of the original.

The desk.

The desk.

The desk however is totally made from the gray runner and… as you can see, it’s very… office-like.

The drawers.

The drawers.

Or the lack of thereof. While the desk might had looked to have drawers, but they’re just for show, really. Then again, it’s too small to be of any use, even for figma-sized items.

The student desks set.

The student desks set.

This is a separate kit from the office desk, but it does give you runners for three desk and chairs.

The desk and chair.

The desk and chair.

It’s your bock-standard school desk and chair, you could paint some of the bits to make it more… less of a drab.

Comparing to a Max Factory desk 1

Here is a comparison shot between the Hasegawa desk on the left and the one from Max Factory on the right, taken from the adult Mikuru figma.

Comparing to a Max Factory desk 2

Comparing to a Max Factory desk 2

As you can see, both of them are not exactly the same size, as the one from Max Factory had taken some liberties for the scale.

Comparing to a Max Factory desk 3

Both have the same features such as the bag hook and the cavity for the books.

Again, some liberties had been taken on Max Factory side.

Mikuru sensei.

However, the sets are somewhat in-scale to figma figures.

Sitting on the chair.

Sitting on the chair.

Since Mikuru wears a mini-skirt, careful positioning had to be taken care off.

Uh-oh...

Uh-oh…

Due to it’s assemble-yourself nature, the part that joins the base and the chair is very weak. Nothing like a dab of Mr. Cement to fix things up.

On the student chair.

On the student chair.

The student chair on the other hand is pretty sturdy.

Mikuru is modeling with the student set.

.

Now you can see roughly the scale.

Now you can see roughly the scale.

My my my my~

My my my my~

What a rather precarious pose there.

Toyoshisa: Greeting class, I'm your history teacher.

Toyoshisa: Greeting class, I’m your history teacher.

Okay, now we need is students.

And now with students.

And now with students.

As you can see, things can get quite chaotic.

      Table-flipping AND table-stomping actions, yes. =D

I like that there are more companies (though still not that many) starting to put out 1/12 stuff, Hasegawa with their school furniture and Wave and Konami’s arcade cabinets (though haven’t heard about any new ones for a while, now…).

Hasegawa’s got a 1/12 gashapon machine set coming that I’ve got ordered, and I might grab that science room table they made, too.

Also, there’s the lavatory and urine sink (yes, those are will be available).
Ah, those arcade sets. Saw some papercraft ones too.

A gachaphon machine? I have a feeling that Yotsuba can’t wait to play with those.

Oh, yeah, I’m probably going to get the toilet one, too. I already actually have a 1/12 toilet, but it’s a traditional American one instead of a fancy Japanese one. And I figure having the bathroom “scenery” that it’s a part of might be useful, as well. Going to skip on those urinals, though.

      • on 14/02/2013 at 4:29 pm bd77

Bathroom “scenery”, one could always imagine the “potential” of those. ;)

    my my my… Mikuru Sensei..

I do believe that is a very alluri /shot

      I know right? *nudge-nudge, wink-wink*

      YUSH! For GREAT SUCCESS!

wait, so it is 3 tables/chairs in one set or you buy 3 set?
and this is relevant to Hasegawa table/chair set:

The student desk set has runners for you to build three chairs and desks.

I think I better build my own classroom than getting the nendo ones as those are too small the area and also, pricey…

  6. on 14/02/2013 at 6:14 am Miette-chan

I bought these two along with the tables and chairs pretty darn neat. Although some things are flimsy as hell like the office chairs.

I do hope Hasegawa will continue to produce more of them and for other companies to jump aboard too. More props for my figmas are always a good thing.

    • on 14/02/2013 at 4:31 pm bd77

Yes, the office chair needed some cement to make it more sturdier.

Yes, more furnishings for figures are always welcome. :)

The cabinets are kinda drab..the gray really has the plastic feel going on. But the student tables and chairs are nice, even straight out of assembly. =D

Just wondering how does this set go with Nendoroids? I’m guessing it shouldn’t be too bad, since some Nendo stuff are interexchangable with Figmas

    • on 16/02/2013 at 10:37 am bd77

Yes, the office table is very plain as it is from a single coloured runner.

Nendo figures could sit with student desk set, provided that you fiddled its’ sitting position. If that failed, use tack material to support/stick them.

the one that come with Mikuru adult is definitely better quality but if wanna create a classroom then the hasegawa ones are useful

oh did u order the 1/12 toilets as well?

    • on 16/02/2013 at 10:39 am bd77

LoL. Of course the ones from Max Factory is of better quality but at a dearer price.

Oh lol no, I didn’t ordered those. XD

Knew about the nendoroid play sets but haven’t seen this before. Some of the furniture looks quite detailed.

    • on 16/02/2013 at 11:41 pm bd77

The chairs and student desk set are nicely detailed, but the office desk… due to it’s construction from a single coloured runner, is a bit of a… drab.
      ._.
