My initial plan WAS to make a Mospeada-like ride armour mod out of the HG Genoace. But instead…
I ended up with something else ENTIRELY. A VOTOMS-inspired Genoace Red Shoulder Turbo custom!
A very unexpected turn of events.
The abrupt change in plans is when I was just putting some leftover parts into the foot arch of the Genoace.
Was re-watching VOTOMS when I was doing this and… yeah. =_=
I went “YES! GLIDE WHEELS~!”
Since the Scopedog units in VOTOMS relies heavily on wheels in the feet and afterburning engines on the lower thighs, I’ve decided to put some unused HG Rapheal parts. Et voila~ Afterburning engine compartment with variable side spoilers at the sides. The foot also had to be redone with some epoxy putty, in lengthening it.
The intakes balances the top-heavy Genoace’s proportions.
Decided to ditch the protruding backpack as it will hindered the VHF/UHF antenna for the head.
How the unit looked like before I applied the paint. The gun, as we can see, is attached to an unused AGE-1 beam rifle part. Now the rifle is more menacing and more appropriate for a brutal unit.
As with many VOTOMS unit, they dash very fast using the gliding wheels in the feet, akin to mechas on rollerskates.
With the articulation test completed, now for the paint job.
The paint was done mostly with hardware spray paints, and quite happy with the red cast iron effect on the shoulder. The rest of the kit is entirely gray for the undercoat, then a coat of clear green (aka felt green) is applied. Minor parts are done using Gundam markers.
Now this should able to blend in nicely with other Red Shoulder units. Apart from the size (as most VOTOMS units are 4.8 meters, a Genoace, 16 meters).
The single red shoulder on the right, the symbol of terror and ruthlessness. According to the folks from the Astragius Galaxy.
Taken from MAHQ:
“In the last six years of the Hundred Years War, no name was feared more than the Gilgamesh Confederation’s elite Red Shoulder Battalion. Nicknamed the “Bloodsucker Battalion,” these specially-trained soldiers are infamous for their savagery on the battlefield – no distinction is made between enemy, civilian and even ally. The Red Shoulder Battalion is easily recognized by their heavily armored custom ATM-09-ST Scopedog units, painted with a red shoulder.”
One side side shows compassion and the other, brutality.
Next: finishing the gun and adding some decals.
